HOUSE HOLDS

Works by Mo Neuharth
Homes Campus Gallery, March 2023

House Holds is a meditation on domesticity that uses common household objects as a whimsical experiment in color and mark making. Using a crayon-like medium and found recycled construction paper, the playful materials are meant to stimulate a nostalgic sensibility and derail the seriousness of adulthood. By releasing the need for perfection, each piece is allowed to be a surprising symbol that celebrates the often-overlooked comforts a house can hold.

The project began in 2020 during quarantine and remains an ongoing body of work, drawing inspiration from everyday activities of homemaking like cooking, gardening, cleaning. All paper was sourced at Arts and Scraps in Detroit, a community reuse store and nonprofit arts organization.
